how to proceed?

Postby sengtsan » Tue Jan 11, 2011 1:11 pm

Hello,

First, Happy New Year to all!

Second, I am interested in practicing qigong studying and following YMAA 's materials. I already begin some qigong practice from another source and now want to switch to YMAA curriculum. I already have some YMAA books and DVDs.
My question is: what is the order I should follow in the practices? Should I first train in Martial Arts (either kung fu or Taijiquan)?

Many thanks

Hi Dvivid,

Thank you very much for replying so quickly.

I will look into this program and come back if I have any specific questions regarding the practice.

I was considering also using sunrise/set Taichi and Energy patterns by R.Rones.

Best of qi,

Of course, if health is your only concern, just using the Eight Brocades or a short Tai Chi form should be enough for the rest of your life.

Hi,

Health is not my only concern.
English is not my first language so I may have expressed myself in a improper way.

Is it that R.Rones material is mainly health orientated?

What YMAA publications by other authors do you recommend?

Thanks

Rami's books and DVDs are traditional style, with an emphasis on health.

HE compiles many internal practices and makes them accessible to the mainstream, and offers an excerpt of Yang style Tai Chi forms. But they are only sections of the form, not an authentic "Simplified" form by classical standards.

It is a good place to get a feel for internal arts.

After that, I recommend learning the 24-form:

And if you are interested in kung fu also, start here:

Those above will give you a lot to study for 6-12 months.
