Chinese zodiac

Postby internalfist » Sun Apr 26, 2009 12:47 pm

Recently I visited with a fortune teller who does feng shui, palmistry and follows the chinese zodiac. She told me that like her self I to am a fortune teller. I am a snake as is she. I already had an idea I was kinda gifted in that area, from things I have predicted and alot of the time I turn out correct, especially about people. And Ive come across a few things that have made me believe this even more, so Im looking into it further.
So recently I have been thinking, how can I use my fortune telling/perception gift in martial arts? As in actual application of martial arts (defending myself.) I know I can easly see a fight a mile away and avoid it, which is soem thing that comes with martial arts training any way. But how can I use this gift in actual application? Maybe fine tune it to the point were I could perceive my opponents attack waaay before they come?
What do you think? I keep pondering this in my mind over and over and Im just looking for some outside info.
Thanks to :D
P.S. I put this in Qigong because it does have to do with energy. (atleast I believe so). Thanks again.

yea thats interesting, and I do see how and why you would place this in the Qigong forum (as close as your going to get here I think) While I am not an expert in the Zodiac or Feng Shui I do find both topics interesting. I myself have noticed that the longer I do Qigong that I have become increasingly sensitive to other people's emotional states. Often just be being near someone I can pick up on how they feel, and when I ask them I'm usually correct. Though I think that everyone picks up on this stuff to one degree or another, and simply does not realize it. As to pre-cognition that is something that from time to time I have had vague glimpses of, but its not a regular thing.
I am by no means an expert here, but from what I have read about Qigong and other practices I would assume that the more you open your upper dan tien / third eye, the more this ability might increase.
Personally in sparing I think I have noticed that if prior to class, I meditate on my upper dan tien that my reflexes / reaction time/ intuition about my opponent seem a little sharper, but who knows maybe I'm just imagining things.

I once went through a stage of taking readings from the I-ching (out of the habit now). On the day of the 7/7 London tube bombings and before hearing any news I was on the train, I had my I-ching with me and some coins and took a reeding. I got the abysmal, the worst portent possible in the book. Seems quite accurate on the hole when I used it but not always easy to interpret. As for martial arts and qigong its not uncommon for internal practitioners to develop this skill, Sun Lutang predicted many things including the time and place of his death.

hehehe keep up your zz, bro. combine that with sitting in stillness in the evenings and gather what you've been building in the mornings - if you've naturally got a measure of a certain talent, it will be easier for you to cultivate more ;)

not too many people can take a simple path and walk it through, therefore its easy to lose sight of what those simple things do for your practice. you're still young and your mind has a few more years to mature, so this will come along with that to some measure, and it will absolutely rest on how your practice is :)

Why not use this gift to divine the martial application of the gift?

I think isolation on a mountainside with a grate amount of meditation is called for. I can almost guarantee it would put you more in touch with that part of you, free from distractions and influences. Scary thing to contemplate though going alone into the hills, some day perhaps I will but it would take some guts. :)
