motion capture

Postby Johngo5 » Fri Jul 22, 2005 8:43 pm

I kind of have a bold and ambitous suggestion. Has any 3-d artists and or
students ever attempted to motion capture some of the martial forms for
research pursposes? I was pondering the idea of contacting some motion
capture software companies in order to catalog my main forms. I tired some
demos that had some interesting features like joint manitulation
software where the user could control every joint of the human body.
The animations could be imported into most standard 3-d software.

Credo interactive had a good demo of dance choreography software
that could also be used for martial arts movement. In the end, I feel
it is better to simply practice. Although, I think these are interesting tools
students could learn from if they are used in the correct context. I think with
the computer a martial artiist could analyze their own alignment issues with
the process of motion capture and therefore become more aware of what areas
they may need to work on.

What do you think? too much?
