cleaning the liver

Postby tico » Sun May 10, 2009 5:58 am

Hey,

I saw a recepie of cleaning up the liver. You must press 1/2 a lemon and 1 lepel good oil and drink it. I think it's very dangerous. Is this true?

tico- if my google is working right, the arachide is maybe peanut oil? Not sure that the combination of the juice of half a lemon and one spoonful of peanut oil once per year will do anyone much good, but doesn't seem to be that dangerous either—unless you're allergic to peanuts maybe!

Herbalists in the States have used olive oil as part of a liver/gallbladder cleanse since at least the 1800's. But I haven't heard of them using peanut oil.

this recipe sounds like a salad dressing to me just add some freshly ground black pepper and some crushed garlic. Can't see it doing much harm or good.

In England we would call it Cold pressed extra virgin olive oil and I would definitely put it on a salad. If you want to detox your liver just go on a water-only fast for two to three days. Always check with a doctor first before you do this. I will post the guidelines for fasting over the next few days, when I have some time.

Postby shehanaaz » Sun Jun 07, 2009 1:14 am

Is the lemonade diet the same thing as the master cleanse?

1. Lemonade diet is a misnomer and could be potentially dangerous
2. Mater Cleanse incorporates the lemonade drink but again there are dangers.
3. A better strategy is to decrease deleterious foods, decrease sugared drinks and start from there as a base point to allow the body to get accustomed to the decreased load

Better yet, drink more water and instead of sugary drinks use the lemonade mix.

I forgot about this.

Guidelines for a short water-only fast

Fast for no more than two or three days at a time.

Prepare yourself for the fast by eating only raw fruits and vegetables for three days beforehand.

Avoid coffee and tea before fasting so as to lessen the effects of caffeine withdrawal.

During the fast, relax as much as possible, at home.

Drink two to three litres od distilled water each day - you will put you health at risk if you do not drink enough.

Break the fast carefully and gently with a glass of apple and carrot juice, or an apple chew very thoroughly. Follow with a glass of diluted juice every two hours and one or two pieces of fruit or raw vegetables in the evening. Slowly incorporate other foods over the next few days.

Eat live sugar-free yoghurt after the fast to replace the friendly bacteria that have been lost.

Take light exercise before and after the fast, and during it if you have the strength. Exercise is an essential part of the detoxification process as it boosts circulation and lymphatic drainage.

Ten Steps to a Healthy Liver
1. Avoid taking unnecessary medications. Be sure to discuss your medication and the health of your liver with your physician. A number of noninvasive liver function tests can be performed to monitor the liver's reaction to medication.
2. Do not mix medicines without the advice of a physician.
3. Do not take street drugs, and do not drown your liver in alcohol
4. Drink water. When the kidneys are healthy, the liver has an easier job to do.
5. Be careful when using aerosol cleaners. Because the liver must detoxify what you breathe as well as what you eat, make sure that the area is well ventilated when you clean.
6. Be careful when you use bug sprays, paint sprays, and chemical sprays. Wear a mask, and watch what gets on your skin. Your liver also filters toxins that enter through your skin.
7. Eat a well-balanced, nutritionally adequate diet. In fact, proper nutrition is often the only remedy prescribed for mild liver disorders and is an absolute must for acute or chronic diseases.
8. Be careful of the latest fad diet. A diet with too much protein in particular makes more toxic ammonia in the system that the liver must turn into urea to eliminate.
9. Cut down on deep-fried and fatty foods, and minimize your consumption of smoked, cured, and salted foods, which are hard on the system. Try lemon juice instead of salt. Increase your intake of high-fiber foods.
10. Do your homework. Know what you are putting into your system, whether it is food or drugs or an herbal tea. Understand what the substance. or food does for, you, and understand what it does to your liver.
