Yea, I'm not YMAA, but whatever works man! Although i'd recommend putting your rear (right?) hand, the one at your waist, in front, so it may strike and block faster. If it's at the waist, there is more physical distance and thus more time from it's chamber to your target. But it's totally personal prefrence. Don't base your fighting off a movie or video game, because what 'looks cool' could get you seriously injured via it's inefficiency. Do what you want but make intelligent decisions and changes at all times as you increase your knowledge of martial arts.

Also, be careful with doing any video game or movie inspired moves. You might get beat down. Seriously.

sparring with the hands down at both sides is for the very advanced. It is a cocky statement, letting a another skilled opponet know you are not threatend and highly skilled. It is also highly unperdictable and used to draw your oppont in allowing him to make the first move and hopefully a vital mistake. When some one is in a highly gaurded and focused state there opponet is more on gaurd and cautous. Less likley to open there gaurd, show there intention and make a mistake.Again this takes alot of skill and focuse. You must have a very high awarness of your seroundings and the ability to read the intention of your opponent. You must be completly confident and relaxed and able and willing to take a few shots because you are wide open. This is not a stadagey for every one and a very bad one for tounaments because any thing close is scored.
