one thing I have noticed in sparring is that its usually the time when I don't have any fear going in that I get creamed, and its usually that I have a healthy amount of pensiveness that I tend to do fairly well (though I do even better if while feeling pensive, I take a min or two to breath into my lower Dan-Tien to center myself, consolidate nervous energy which also helps control Adrenal release which helps in a fight)
