Is Zhan Zhuang a yin practice?

Postby molpa » Wed Aug 17, 2016 7:39 am

Hi
Does Zhan Zhuang belong to yin or yang? It is said that it is one of the internal arts (which is yin) but the practise is happeing in standing position and stading is a yang. Witch one is right?
Or maybe it is internal or external at the same time?

This is a good question.

It is both yin and yang. Id recommend loosening and relaxing afterward, so your body is not too tense.

It begins with a yin aspect, relaxing, then your body starts to shake, vibrate and this is the yang aspect.

The yin yang alternates during the training. For beginners the yang starts after only 2 minutes, because you will shake and vibrate all over. Advanced needs to provoke the yang by getting into a more difficult posture, raising their arms, standing on one foot or even by tense up intentionally specific muscle groups.
