I heard that some monks leave end their lives using Qi Gong.

more like "using one's lifetime of awareness training to harmonize and gather....dropping off in the process"

in good practice = more subtle body control.

a monk would only do this at the proper time, anyway.
Even in mildly complex systems, any outcome is the wrong thing to target, with the process being where the focus should be.

So a ballet dancer will end his live with ballet dancing?

I can't imagine why someone who has studied all his life the nature of life force should decide to end his life on his own will.

Only people who are deeply depressed will commit suicide. But not healthy people who loves each day of their life. Especially if they have friends and family.

Have you read the book "Magus of Java"? There is a story of a master who reached 120 years and exactly on that day he died a rather violent death when blood flows out of his eyes, nose, mouth and ears. But even in this story the dude didn't commit suicide, it was because of his extreme training or the accelerated imagination of author of the book.

I'd say the word "suicide" is a bit negative and misleading.

Some monks have been known to sort of "die at will", and a few reported cases of people attaining the "rainbow body" have been recorded in the past century. It is fairly well-known that spiritually-advanced humans have the ability to choose to die by the power of their mind, like Australian "aboriginals". But this is rare nowadays, and not really anything to get excited about in a negative light.

Self-immolating monks, such as the 100+ young monks and nuns in Tibet recently, are more in line with actual suicide...

I hope Sorcerer means that some folk practice their Qi Gong on thheir deathbed to help them through it. It shouldn't be limited to monks - it seems only natural that anyone who practices Qi Gong - particularly if they love it - would use it on their deathbed. After all, what good is it if it can't be utilized in this kind of situation? Lou Reed was really into Chen tai chi chuan and his wife said that he left this life practicing his tai chi chuan. Also - and this is not to do with death exactly, but a teacher of mine mentioned once that whenever he undergos sort of surgery or if he's just bored in the dentist's chair or whatever - he'll do some Qi Gong - even if it is him closing his eyes imagining himself doing the postures and circulating...

but yeah, I guess a ballet dancer would do ballet on their deathbed unless their religious convictions had them doing something else ;)

au contraire, one who has studied nature his whole life understands what place and function the body has. if one hasnt "gotten past the spiritual coefficient of friction," then you are leaving your body behind whether you want to or not. one in tune enough will know when the time is right to leave, one in fear grabs for gold coins as he descends in quicksand
