If anybody reads Chinese or knows about veterinary acupuncture I'd love to know a little more about the literature that the CT tomography experiment was based on.
Basically, the CT paper that's being cited in the article above is one where the researchers injected some different chemicals into rabbits to prepare their blood vessels, and then removed parts of the rabbits to do scans on, which contained some (rabbit) acupuncture points and non-acupuncture points.
http://www.researchgate.net/publication ... _radiationI guess what I'm wondering is who came up with the information about the location and size of acupuncture points in rabbit bodies, and what they used to find those points. Did they find them by trying out lots and lots of acupuncture treatments on animals, or did they find them by measuring something on the rabbit bodies, or something else?
There's a short wikipedia article about veterinary acupuncture, but it doesn't talk about how the American guys in the '70s who started doing it came up with locations of acupuncture points for rabbits, horses, etc.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veterinary_acupunctureI do think it's kind of weird that none of the news articles reporting on this study mention that it was done on samples of rabbit tissue, and that the article itself doesn't explain the relationship between the very old tradition of acupuncture on humans and the parts of the rabbits they used.
