MCO has nothing to do with the knee. In fact, we cross the legs in MCO in order to decrease the circulation in the legs deliberately. Do NOT put your attention on the legs when practicing MCO.
Once your Qi becomes "abundant", meaning more energy that usual, and you are circulating it smoothly, it becomes quite powerful. There are stories of people frying the nerves in their legs and becoming paralyzed forever. Cross your legs, keep them crossed, and keep your attention (Yi/intention) on your MCO. Return Qi to the abdomen and chill for a few minutes before uncrossing the legs.
