After reading Dr. Yang books and watching his DVD's the only I can tell is that he has made an exceptional work. His explanations are extremely technical and clear. However I miss the use of "visualization" in his teaching. Don't you think that images, visualization, should be widely use in his teaching ?
interesting point. though Dr. Yang's explanations are quite technical and precise, he uses many images that promote visualization. for example, during several of the exercises on his white crane Qi gong DVD, he describes the body moving, "like a soft whip." though technical, I associate this particular description with visualization because, by visualizing a soft whip, our bodies can begin to move like a soft whip.
also, Dr. Yang often references the Taiji classics and other Qi Gong treatistes (or as he likes to call, "the ancient documents") in his books and DVDs which themselves are full of images and visualization.
that said, I find it helpful while practicing meditation, mabu, and moving postures to imagine images like the ocean, a stream or a flower blooming. the list of images can go on and on, but visualization can be found in many of Dr. Yang's teachings.
