hey vamos,

The difference in TCM between the soul housed within the lungs (sometimes called the Bodily Soul or P'o in Chinese) and the Shen which is your spirit in your heart is this: P'o is that basic animal instinct the primal vitality in all living things. Think of it as your Basic self, that reptilian survival fight or flight mechanism, your body's impulses, and gut feelings. Your shen on the other hand is more like your actual soul would be considered in Western terms. However in TCM it's referred to as "Spirit" to distinguish it from P'o. I believe your actual spirit, your true self is within your heart because it has been found that there are cells within every person's heart that have been alive since their birth, or even earlier; unlike al the other cells in the body which die and are replaced every month or so. Hope this helps answer your question and I myself would like to know how you have learned to regulate your own spirit! Peace.
Within the Tao, All Things are Possible.

I wouldnt say that i have regulated my spirit but i can raise it or lower it when i need to.

i lower through the deep breathing which lessens amount of qi in body and other things of that nature.also i use acuuncture points that target the spirit (calming) and imagine i am pressing them them with my Yi(mind?) theres problary about 6 or 7 points i use.

One thing i have never heard mentioned.everyone jin is off different quality but can be trained improved but what off the spirit.?is everyones spirit of different potential/skill etc.

would the idea of its potential be through reincarnation?dont know?

thanks by the way for the explanation on the soul.i have heard of po but didnt know what it corresponded to.intresting explanation about the heart.is there another part of the mind not normally talked about?ehtereal soul?or is that po?

the etheral soul is called the Hun and is located in the Liver, its is the part of you that surives death, while the Po disolves after death.
