Creativity and Qi

Postby jpmaus » Tue Mar 23, 2010 12:33 am

Any specific Qigong exercises you guys can think of that would enhance or "open up" artistic creativity? Maybe this is a stupid question, but something like "writers block" might have something to do with Qi, no? Anyways, any specific exercises you could suggest would be appreciated?

Everything has to do with Qi.

Think of it this way: the body is constrcuted of between 60 to 100 trillion living cells, each with their own life span.

Each cell can store and release a charge of energy, aka Qi.

Brain cells consume 12 times more oxygen than other cells in the body, so its reasonable to assume they also consume 12 times more Qi.

Something like writer's block is psychological of course, but you might overcome it by providing more energy to the brain.

How can you lead more energy to the brain?:

1. Pay attention to the physical sensations within the head. Wherever you hold your attention within the body, Qi gathers.

2. Stretch your neck and shoulders. Physical tension causes stagnation. When the neck is tense, the circulation of blood, nutrition, and energy into the head is diminished.

3. Sit upright, relax, and meditate. Qi will naturally come to the centerline of the body the more you can relax and focus the mind. Over time, this increases energy in the centers along the centerline of the body, including the center of the brain, in the area of the pituitary gland. This heightens your senses, awareness, and mental power.

4. Preserve your sexual energy. This is creative energy. You want it to be healthy and stimulated, but not drained.

Hope this helps.
