Qigong at High Noon

Postby DEADLI. » Mon Aug 10, 2009 6:17 am

Hi all,
I read in a qigong book recently that you shouldn't train around noon, maybe from 11:30 till 12:30, because the energy is too coarse (Major Yang!).

Anyone have any info or opinions on this?

I've heard this from plenty of different sources - I think it mostly refers to outside practice, the sun is usually too hot at its highest. I've heard around noon, 1-3, but generally lunch and after lunch.

I recommend NOT practicing between 11am and 1pm. That is when the natural energy of the day is peaking.

Best times for more refined practice are early morning, or evening.

Thanx D,

Chinese sources always say the best time to practice for your health is between midnight and noon, the path of the rising sun, as the yang energies are increasing.
Don't you think it's all down to the individual though? Say someone with yin dificiency, they might be better doing most of their practice from noon to midnight, the path of the setting sun, as the yin energies are increasing.

I've always heard active morning exercises are the best for health & longevity.

One has to start practicing first and as time (gong/duration/frequency) builds up, it will become clear the best time for practice. Convenience is the better key.
