About Yi Jin Jing

Postby viet » Thu Jul 02, 2009 1:19 pm

Hello seniors,

I am new to forum and Qi Gong. I would like to learn about it. I bought a couple of books written (compiled) by Dr. Yang.

What I am interested in now is learning Yi Jin Jing. I have seen 4 versions of the Yi Jin Jing and got a little bit confused.

1. The fist and palm versions by Dr. Yang (I also found it somewhere else)
2. The moving version by Dr. Yang (I could not found anywhere else)
3. The moving version presented by Chinese Qigong Association
4. Similar moving version presented by Shaolin monk (can be found on youtube)

Now, my questions are:

1. What version are you seniors practicing and highly recommend me to practice?

2. If we practice the fist and palm version, does it mean we will not strengthen our leg muscles/tendons much?

Your answers are greatly appreciated.

Best to all,
Viet

Although the name is the same, there are many variations out there.
Just do the one your teacher is doing, or the one that is being taught.
The Chinese Qigong Health Association's version is supposedly more scientific but it is up to the practitioner and the instruction he is receiving.

How significant are the differences you came across? If they are trivial, then do whatever resonates better with you. Provided you can distinguish between trivial and non, of course :D

Thank you.

Joeblast: They are very different. Many of them have more than 12 exercises.

I will try to do more research on that. I believe that Damo's fist set is one set of many sets in Yi Jin Jing.
