Maximising the lung capacity or oxygen intake capacity

Postby tacklebloke » Tue Apr 21, 2009 7:02 am

Hi All,

As you all know oxygen is a crucial element in Qigong practice.
It is vital that one should increase the capacity of the lungs to increase oxygen intake to fill the hunger of these vital organs within our body. Especially the brain.

Is there a specific set of exercise strictly dedicate for lungs and to max out oxygen intake apart from the eight piece of brocade? :)

Cheerio

There's a few different ways you can go at this one - doing a deep breath practice regularly (even running, swimming fit in here) should have some net effect of increasing vital capacity, but also doing slower coordinated motion will help you breathe more efficiently. The slower stuff will help build sensitivity and relaxation, will help with the finer points of movement.
