Could you recommend a cd to guide me through small circulation meditation that I can listern to each time I practise. I have heard the Spring Forest one and would not recommend it.

The best thing is face to face instruction!
Small Circulation or Big Circulation MAY not be that much different but it is the quality and therefore learning with a good teacher as a starting point is always a better policy regardless of what one may perceive.

IMHO you should not listen to music while doing small circulation.

If you are following Dr. Yang's approach to it, follow the stages carefully. First, develop a solid foundation in embrionic breathing, then progress slowly to small circulation with "small-small circulation", opening the "tricky gates", and so on (get the books on the subject if you don't know what I am referring to).

In any case, your mind should be 100% into it, not forcing, but fully into it. Listening to music, invariably will take some of your attention and I would think it is not recommended.

You are dealing with your life force through a potentially dangerous practice, don't be afraid, but take it seriously.

There is no such CD.

During small circulation and many other qigong exercises, you are turning your attention inward.

It would not work well to have a follow-along CD.

Its best to learn it, then practice it.

You can learn small circulation from:

Spring forest Qigong does do a Cd where he talks through what you should be imagining and thinking about. It also has a qigong master who makes a strange noise to indicate when you should inhale. Unfortunately the time given to exhale is far to short and the noise intensely annoying. I am new to meditating and so find it really helpful to be guided in my meditation. I am not just looking for a music CD.

Ok, I thought you were referring to a CD with relaxing music.

Anyways, Dvivid already answered it. How can you let someone dictate the rythm of your breaths, let alone the progress of your practice? It will only make you tense to try and fulfill the stages in the CD.
