Reclaiming Jing?

Postby nitsuj » Sun Oct 26, 2008 1:07 am

After a brief study of The Root of Chinese Chi Kung, I have concluded that Jing is a very precious, yet limited, personal treasure. As a married man, this can have some implications as far as following the the rule to not dissipate jing before or after performing qigong ( i have elected to follow the one day before/one day after suggestion).

Question 1. Are there any ways to minimize this "downtime"? Are there any teas, herbs, exercises, etc., that can help make it possible to practice qigong regularly AND keep my wife from running off with the mailman (just kidding about that, but you know what I mean)?

Question 2. How important is it to follow these abstinence rules before practicing sets such as 5 animals and/or 8 pieces?

Hi Nitsuj,
there are a couple of acupuncture points that claim to strengthen the jing.

Kidney-3 (Taixi, source point of the kidney channel) located in the depression between the the tip of the internal ankle bone and the achillies tendon. Do both left and right ankles.

Cv-4 (Guanyuan) located four fingers below the center of the umbilicus.

There are many accupressure techniques, but to strengthen the jing you just want to press on the acupoint for between 1-5 minutes.

Hope this is of some use.

1. It is better to take care of the nutritional base first hence the 'proper diet' foundation.
2. More 'neidanshu/yangshenggong/negong' practices involving jinggong and donggong.
3. Sufficeint reat and relaxation
4. Supplementign accupoints is better with nutritional base support
5. As we age we lose digestive enzymes
6. Sedentary lifestyle diminishes 'jing' so more physical activity to strengthen it.
6. That is why oldsters are told to lift weight so as to build bone (i.e make tougher and restore muscular integrity through neiromuscular integrative concepts.
