Question about Massaging the Essence Door

Postby fit155 » Mon Oct 29, 2007 12:15 am

Hey All,

I have a question about the massaging the essence door piece in the sitting 8 pieces of brocade practice.

I may be getting tangled up in the details, but I thought I read or saw that during the summer you are supposed to massage your kidneys in an outward direction and massage them in an inward direction in the winter. (Or vice versa.) Does anyone know which it is?

Also, in which direction to you massage them in the fall and spring?

Thanks.

Since the 'kidneys' are the essence, they are done as often as possible.
One can rub in circles, or up and down, sideways, as long as you are flexible enough. My preference is for use of back of wrists as opposed to neilaogong/yuji side!

I found out part of the answer to this one...

In one of Dr. Yang's DVDs he says to rub kidneys away from the spine in an outward circular direction in summer, and towards the spine in an inward circular direction in the winter.

Still don't know about what to do in fall or spring.

In terms of clockwise/counter-clockwise...

Summertime:

Left hand counter-clockwise; right hand clockwise.

Wintertime:

Left hand clockwise; right hand counter-clockwise.

(It's easier for me to think in terms of massaging toward or away from the spine.)
