Ling Qi

Postby stephenbuck415 » Thu Mar 22, 2007 8:27 am

Greetings everyone.

This week I began (academic) study of Qigong with "Understanding Qigong" DVD 1. I have ordered several of Dr. Jang's books on Qigong that will arrive next week. (I have dvd 2 and #3 arrives next week as well, along with 8 Pieces of Brocade).

I would like to ask a question in advance of receiving the materials ordered.

I have heard of a term called "Ling Qi" described by Westerners who are trying their best to define the term.

Does Dr. Jang discuss Ling Qi?

What is the simplest definitiion / explanation?

Based on my current understanding of the term (higher etheric/spiritual energy) has anyone actively experienced it through meditation?

Ling Qi is the Chinese term for ReiKi (Japanese).

I wouldn't know though if dr. Yang teaches that.

Oh.

One of the earlier concepts taught in the Japanese Reiki is that the practioner utilizes an unlimited source of life force / healing energy. (For those who do not know, Reiki is just either a stationary meditation or stationary laying-on-of-hands practice that began to become popular in the States around 1970 or so.)

The material on Qigong that I have seen thus far (halfway through Understanding Qi DVD#2) focuses on local (physical) qi.

I'm wondering if at some point the Qigong practice involves the concept of Unlimited Qi?
