What do you say is Dr. Yang's best book on Qi gong healing?

Postby jfraser » Thu Mar 08, 2007 7:33 pm

Lately, I have been having a lot physical aches and pains, plus old, formally supressed anger
immerging into my consciousness, and I feel it in my jaws, the back of my neck, and around my shoulder blades. Some call these tensions "orphaned traces".

What would you say is Dr. Yang's best book or DVD on healing body tensions, and old emotions that come into my consciousness?

I have Embryonic Breathing and Small Circulation by Dr. Yang. I am looking for something that is more basic and healing focusd.

Please advise. :) :?: :?

Thank you,

James

Sounds like you understand the theory, and all you need is to spend some time practicing Qigong. 45 or 60 mins a day.

I'd recommend practicing along with the 8 Brocades DVD:

Or, White Crane Soft Qigong DVD:

Or, the Taiji Qigong Set DVD:

Relax, breathe deeply, practice regularly, and the results will follow.

Dvidid,

Thank you for your response.

Since I am not familiar with the types of Qigong you sited in your last post, if you were to pick one that fits best, as stated in my initial post on this subject, which one would you choose. I am on a limited budget.

How does the soft White Crane Qigong differ from the Tai Chi Qigong, essentially? Are they sets or sitting practice?
One of my issues is how to release these old muscular tensions and old emotions? Which one might fit the best. I am unsure about Embryonic Breathing, as I have hypertension.

A FORUM TECHNICAL QUESTION:
Recently I have tried to change my email address and user name, without success, in spite of repeated attempts, going in on my forum profile. Suggestions?

Thank you,

James,

In that case I would go for the 8 brocades DVD. Also there is a lot on this to find on the internet. Just Google: 8 brocades qigong
These are 8 postures which have a healing effect just like the way Taijiquan has healing effects through motion, stimulating the corresponding meridians while engaging the postures.

James, you might also want to have a look at BK Frantzis' Opening the Energy Gates book, there are some good sections in there on sinking qi and dissolving qi practices. Including those into your qigong regimen should help!

Yes, practice the Sitting 8 Brocades in the morning when you wake up, and then later in the day, practice the Standing 8 Brocades. And you'll feel better. The DVD has detailed instructions, including breathing, and deeper theory to explain how the movements work.

When you breathe slowly, your heart beats more slowly. And when you bring the mind down below the diaphragm, your blood pressure goes down. These two things during your qigong practice, and at other times of the day, will reduce hypertension. Relax. Decide that your 'old emotional injuries and tension' that you are concerned with are not going to be a problem for you from now on. Consciously let go of them. And physically, move your body to release them.

The Chinese say "When you feel pain, move it away." So, whereever you feel tension or discomfort, move that area of your body to stimulate healthy circulation. Bring the mind to that area as you inhale, and bring the mind away from there as you exhale.
