Its no different than squatting 1000lbs, climbing mt everest, or anything else that requires a lot of training. You build the support structure and then are able to execute the action. Try the former without training and.....there's usually support structures to prevent you from being crushed. Try the latter, and you might be dealing with cerebral edema...
Improper practice is the most likely cause of qigong insanity. That's why its important to learn and practice correctly. You dont need to fear any of that training, just respect what it is and only practice it after you have prepared properly. If you're thinking of the view from the top of the mountain while climbing, you're missing the scenery along the way :)

My particular problem with it is that the only source I could learn Xi Sui Jing from is the Secret of Youth, and everyone I've ever talked to about it says that you MUST learn this from a master. SC is one thing, but XSJ is far more dangerous and I don't think I can learn from just the book.
Anything goes.

joeblast wrote:I cant remember where I read this, but I read an article about training the conception vessel before the governing vessel. If I recall correctly, the rationale was that since its generally accepted that the conception vessel is harder to open up, doing that first helps avoid (mostly stagnation) issues from having opened the governing vessel and building qi up without a yin path sufficiently open to balance. (Thoughts, anyone?)
