erratically spinning dan-tien

Postby hugo » Wed May 03, 2006 3:38 am

I'm pretty new to this so please excuse my ignorance. In practicing the basic standing qigong where I keep my mind at the dan tien I feel like my dan tien is spinning like a crazy ball, there is no uniform to it. I read that one should just ignore these feelings, but where do I put my mind if I ignore these feelings? I'd appreciate any information. Thanks.

Have your mind follow the breath, connect with deep smooth breathing; breathe from the lower abdomen. Be natural as possible in the beginning avoid deep creative visualization in the beginning.

Make sure your shoulders elbows are not held up but, relaxed, fingers seperated, head supporting the sky, be natural as possible dont force anything when practicing.

I recommend Sifu Fong Ha's DVD on his website, he has studied and taught this system since the early 1970's. He offers a in-expensive book also.

Consider yourself lucky to have such a strong sensation in the lower dan tian.

Keep your mind there, but also focus on your breath going in and out slowly. Relax. Qi circulates where it is needed naturally.
