barehand taiji saber qigong

Postby Li Long » Fri Aug 08, 2014 11:50 am

Hi there all,
This is my first post on here, have found this a great source of information.
My question is are there any names for the barehand taiji saber qigong postures, I always find the postures easier to remember with names
Thanks
Li Long

Hi!

There aren't names for the movements on the YMAA Taiji Saber video, and I don't think I've ever heard names for the moves within any qigong set I've learned. It seems like the answer may be no.

If anyone knows of names for these moves I'd love to find out, too.

Knowing the names just complements the teaching for other people!
Doing a taiji saber routine isn't necessarily qigong but its elements do form part of the daoyin/neigong continuium per the stretching, abduction/adduction. bending, etc of the musculuture to invigorate 'jingluo".

There are specific barehand qigong sets that are part of the saber and other weapons training in YMAA. I think that's what Li Long was asking about.

Names definitely do help teach, but they're more than that, too!

Sounds great!
Though I learnt most jian over 20 years, and have taught periodically (recently) despite enjoying taijijian, I still do not know the names of some postures because I never had to do it repeatedly over the years as I do when I teach taijiquan (form).
