Taiji sword dvd, and Taiji For beginners

Postby phore » Sun May 25, 2014 11:30 am

Hello.
I have been looking at the tai chi sword dvd produced by Dr. Yang.

So far with the dvds i have bought I have been very impressed with the Taichi for beginners DVD. It is easily the best Tai chi dvd i have ever viewed, and easier to learn from than some MA classes i have taken in person.
With the Tai chi classical yang style DVD, i found it to be more of a demo.

Is the taiji sword dvd, presented like a demo or as an instructional?

Also i have noticed that there is a sword fundamental training DVD that focuses on northern Shaolin style. Is this to be used with the Taiji Sword DVD as an introduction? Or are the techniques too different (external vs internal)?

Will the Principles in the Long Form transfer over to the sword, and to what extent?

Are there any plans to produce any more DVDs in the Taiji for Beginners format? Maybe a Taiji sword for beginners.

Thank you.

Hi

Thank you. All my videos are instructional format, like Yang Tai Chi for BEginners. The older videos, like Taiji Sword, were demonstration only.

There IS actually a plan for a new instructional edition of Tai Chi Sword for Beginners already in our calendar.

i recommend the instructional Sword Fundamentals DVD. They include ALL basic sword techniques from all styles that Dr Yang is familiar with, internal and external.

The long fist stuff is its own curriculum and I don't expect you'll see much crossover, except in universal principles.

Thanks

Hi,

Is it possible to know more about your future calendar? Ilove your latest long fist DVD. They have crystal clear instruction and i learned a lot from them. Are there any new instructionnal DVD coming about advanced long fist weapons sequence? I have the northerrn shaolin one but it's rather hard to learn sequence from it.

Thank you

Thanks for the feedback, its nice to hear. We don't announce new titles too far in advance because so many things can happen to postpone the project and change the schedule...

I agree Nicky Yang is an amazing teacher. Those videos are so comprehensive. I can tell you that we will have more from Nicky, and MAYBE it will include those weapons eventually.

I can also give you this sneak preview of Dr. Yang's new NEIGONG DVD, coming this Fall!

And, you can watch this link for the new catalog in October. In the Fall, we'll be committed to the new titles in the 2015 catalog: http://ymaa.com/publishing/catalog
