sunrise tai chi - breathing excercises

Postby lilmitch » Fri Apr 22, 2011 3:53 pm

I really like Ramel Rones book/DVD "Sunrise Tai Chi" and how he guides one through a series of qi awareness excerises including "baton visualization" and "four gates breathing" amongst others.

One thing I'm curious about is that most tai chi / qigong books immediately encourage a student to start working with the "small circulation" and or "microcosmic orbit" as the starting point to open up the channel running around the front/back of body.

I have been practicing "small circulation" for a short time, but am very tempted to instead switch to the set of practices in Ramel Rones Sunrise tai chi.

Does anyone have any thoughts, opinions, experiences regarding starting with small circulation versus working with Ramel's suggestions?

Thanks,
Mitch
