Push and pull

Postby Josh Young » Thu Feb 25, 2010 9:46 am

Yin and yang are reciprocal compliments, not opposing forces, we all know that by now.

I found a method of issuing energy that results in a good transfer that basically follows the words of the classics. If you want fellow to go left, then pull the opposite direction.

As you do this they will adjust their center, as they do that you turn your pull in a circle so it becomes a push. This is a rather small circle, you basically fulcrum the pull back to the person, who will have set their momentum against the pull, preparing them for the push.

When the pull comes back around the fulcrum the person who has adjusted their center will power the push, you do not add much additional energy at all, it just feels like a steady contact.

The result, well it is fantastic in many people, once you can get the method down.

Also this exists for everything, push to pluck, sink to lift etc. But it can't be done with two separate movements, you cannot pull and then push, the pull must become the push by way of the circle or you cannot use the persons own momentum and center right and will have to use your own muscular power, which works but isn't as spectacular as using the duifangs own energies.
