Taiji Ball

Postby Allo » Sun Jan 06, 2008 9:02 pm

I'm having a lot of difficulting in finding a Taiji training ball that matches Dr. Yang's description in Martial Applications of Tai Chi Chuan. He says that the ideal ball is 1 foot in diameter, weighs about 1.5kg - 2.5kg (3 to 5 pounds) and is made of wood. Would anyone have any idea where I could find one? Also, I don't live in the states, so I would need one to be shipped internationally.

I use a medicine ball. If that works for you, then I suggest a lighter one, rather than a heavier one. A basketball would work, too. Although it's a bit light.

I wouldn't sweat getting a wooden ball. The ones I've played with were too slick on the outside.
