I have a question about the history of the 32 (chuji) changquan taolu that most beginner changquan wushu students learn. Is it a traditional set? What is its history? It's such a ubiquitous form. I've seen it performed in traditional categories as well as beginner modern wushu categories at tournaments. Thank you for any of your help!

The changquan routine that I know is a wushuchangquan (Northern fist) that was initially part of the public health fitness regimen of the 1960s. I am sure that it has changed today to reflect (nandu-degree of gymnastic difficulty) but it has many application than are usually shown.
The applications that I show tend to be similar to a 18 Lohan Fist. You can google it and see the breadth of application based on your own training. I can see if still availabe and link later.
