Hi everyone,

I just wanted to invite people to fill a thread martial arts related books they've enjoyed.

At the moment Im reading The Shaolin Grand Master's Text as well as The Bodhisattva Warriors. I also found YMAA's The Tao of Bioenergetics very inspiring, especially how it relates Western Psychology's discovery of Qi / ("bioenergetics") to "therapy" and how martial arts can benefit society at large, a subject I am very much interested in.

best,
S.

Opening the Dragon Gate: The Making of a Modern Tao Wizard was a good read. I wonder how much is true. When the Body Becomes All Eyes is a book that is defiantly worth reading especially if you are interested in the origins of martial arts also you may find a few small but significant things you can apply to training.

The Shaolin Grand Master's Text is a good book but again how much is true? Shoalin in exile? Could be.

The Bodhisattva Warriors is next on my kung fu reading list. I have started it but have yet to get far into it as I am reading Dr Yang's Advanced Yang Style 1 (another of Dr Yang's books no martial artist should overlook).

I was also very skeptical of the tone and Shaolin exile claims that the "Grandmaster Text" has / makes. But, its underlying message is good and it is a good introduction, if not a bit childish. I wish there was more literature in the martial arts scenes. The Tao of Bioenergetics, as I isaid, is definately an original work. I know there is one professor at my university who does research on Buddhism and Cognitive science as well as the psychology of wisdom, which really is the theory behind martial arts as a life path.

Sadly I have too many martial arts books to list them.

I am out of town right now, and brought with me two books to study, both by Yang Jwing-Ming, one is his White Crane qigong book and the other is his Advanced Yang style vol 1 book.
