That is what I like to see. Basic and simple moves backed up by profound levels of Gong. If you try that without gong you would get battered but with sufficient force it would be hard to overcome :)

I still agree with forms but when it comes down to it Gong terns the most basic step or strike into a high level skill. The best Wing Chung people I have seen practice the basics all the time until they are soft but with real power backing it up. I am increasingly reflecting this in my training but its hard to achieve in the modern world. Deep Gong takes a lot of time and pain to achieve.
