Of the three maifu forms -- yilu, erlu, and wulu -- erlu is considered the most essential with the other two being of lesser importance. I'm not interested in doing every form that we have, just the really good ones (haha), so I won't push to learn the yilu maifu form.

That's a funny take considering that yi lu and er lu share so many moves and combinations. How could one be for demo and one be for fighting? As for the parts that are different I think I prefer yi lu but that's just my opinion. I always liked er lu because it's the only form I have with a spinning back fist but the video above makes it look like a different technique. I've never heard or seen wu lu, anybody got any videos of that one?

Also 1st time I'm hearing of it. But if you search on google, there're 2 websites which mention that form. But the funniest is that you go from Er Lu to Wu Lu without San Lu and Si Lu...

There used to be a video of Yi Lu Mai Fu performed by Kath Yang on the Andover website, but it looks like there're no more videos there :(
Though I've got that video, does anyone, by the purest chance, know how to contact Kathy? so that I can ask her if I can put the video on youtube...

What spinning back fist are you talking about 19thlohan?

For my part I prefer Er Lu cuz of the two side cut kicks. I find the tornado kick at the end of Yi Lu rather killing!

got it! thanks Google :D

Near the end of the first line. If you look at the vid of er lu in the first post it's at the 17 second mark but it looks more like a wrapping motion in that vid. I learned it as a spinning back fist. Then there was kind of a wrapping motion leading into the nnext move.

19th lohan,
I'm going partly based on what I've been told. Han's long fist has a lot of forms, some of more value than others. According to what he's told me, there's perhaps a general feeling that yilu's value is below that of erlu. I notice that everyone practices erlu, but fewer people have yilu and only a few do wulu. And it's not because wulu is rare and valuable either, IMO.

BTW, there is no san or silu. The numbering in Han's long fist doesn't correspond that way, I think. So no one is missing any sets. Haha.
