Hey people it's possible that the horse was domesticated in India approximately 30,000 years ago, check out the Bhimbetka Cave Paintings.

When I was an archaeology student back in college my professors consistently stated that domestication of the horse couldn't have been longer than maybe 12,000-14,000 years ago. To be perfectly honest I wasn't really ever to accept this as fact because of the cave paintings you mentioned here.

In my opinion, you're absolutely right Phalanx. It looks like the horse was domesticated in ancient India around 30,000 years ago, if not even further back than that.

Are you familiar with the Lascaux caves in France? Those depict dun horses and are approximately 17,300 years old, which also seems to support that domestication of the horse dates back far further than that.

I hope you don't mind if I call you Phalanx by the way!

I grew up with archeology because of my mom worked for a museum, so when I was 3 years was I already playing with artifacts and reading books about ancient history and archeology. When I recently saw the Bhimbetka Cave Paintings, that's when I realised that India were domesticating horses long before people thought. They found Cro Magnon remains in the Czech Republic which date to 24,000 and 27,000 years old, they found Mamoth Bones there also. The Lascaux Caves are estimated to be 17,300 years old, like you said.

I posted a topic about the evolution of Humanity on another forum, I'll forward it to this topic.

All Europeans are related to the Cro-Magnon who supposedly came from the Middle East and Africa, the first Modern Human is called Idaltu. All people around the World are related to the Idaltu from East Africa, here are some pictures.

Pretty incredible that people all those years ago were domesticating horses. Imagine where we'd be now if they had never done that.
