Hello everyone

Postby MasterDan » Thu Sep 05, 2013 2:18 pm

Hi, My name is Dan and I am new to the forums. I just wanted to say how excited I was to find a good site with a helpful forum regarding the arts of Qi. I have been practicing Tai Chi and Qi Gong for a while now (self taught). I believe in the powers of realization, and have been using different methods to learn the ways of this art and to improve my understanding and feel for these exercises. Within the first few weeks I noticed improvements on my lifestyle, personality and the way I handled problems and situations in life.

Feel free to post a little something about yourself and an interesting story or experience if you would like. I look forward to engaging with you guys on future conversations.

Thanks
MasterDan

I have it in my head that I am a Qi master :) . I guess it all depends on what you consider yourself a master of. I always wanted to make Qi globes and use it with different exercises, and I have mastered that.

yeah ha ha

all it takes a little push hands to remind me I'll be a beginner for a long time

still masterdan, nice to feel cool and collected. perhaps if I pretended like I was better at commanding my Qi, it would perform aerial tricks in a little flea circus at the bus stop

ya i know what you mean, there is no end to it, because the more i do it, the more i feel it improves. so is there an end? who knows! but if there is one thing i can say about life is that "life is about auto-correct" .. we are always trying to correct and improve. maybe one day we will become pure beings of light! who knows. the best advice that i got was not to emphasis too much on these things because they are unexplained and last thing you want is come up with the wrong conclusions :)

but i feel my visualization of the Qi globes become sharper and more controlled with every practice. My part time job is working in the dairy department of some store.. so what i try to do for fun is putting a circle of Qi around every item that i restock, just to pass around that good energy for all the good people who come to buy food :). I want to think my life is meant for something and i'm trying to figure out what exactly.

work on the stillness, it is the integrative factor for everything. if you're interested I'll give you some methods to cultivate the laogung to make the hand stuff more efficient.

i believe in the belief system.. and so with that, i believe that our bodies know everything, we just have to let it find its way. to be honest here, i smoke weed and i do my exercises and i can say i feel like i have advanced by years. it gives me such focus and clarity and with each morning comes a new life revelation.

Sorry but i had such a bad day today, emotions where at maximum, chaos in mind. the world is full of bitter people, and it is hard to escape them. they are at home, at work.. and i just don't know what to do, i am very sensative to these things and pick up on vibes. how do i get over this? i get very excited easily. no matter how hard i try, there is always that one person.. or that one comment that just goes under my skin.

i've been reading a book called "warrior of the light", it's been an amazing read. it is not a big book and it says a lot about life.

Intent is certainly powerful, but consider that it is leveraged by cultivation.

Weed flares the mingmen fire and burns up what you cultivate, subtly. So long as you smoke it regularly, you're going to be spinning your wheels in some sense. Not that one isnt able to make any progress with it, but it will unfortunately remain superficial.

How to deal with those things, non discriminating non attachment. Ok to be sensitive to those things. What is important is, how do you react to them? You have control over how you react to thoughts and feelings. Do not further negative ones and reinforce positive ones. Recognize whatever expectation or attachment it is when those feelings arise, and instead of manifesting irritation or what not, redirect the energy potential, leave it unmanifest if possible, that is the best way with regard to the energies...unmanifested, untainted.

Do you mean "Manual of the Warrior of Light" by Paulo Coelho?

Hello there Master Dan! I regret that I have not yet gotten an opportunity to 'meet' you on the forum. It has been a little quiet around here lately, but I really do hope that things will pick up a little more in the future.

I was a little curious. When you say Qi balls, do you mean the way that say a ball Qigong posture can externally reflect and focus the internal motion? Or do you mean, perhaps, more like the effect you get if you place both hands together and cup them without allowing them to touch? I often hear people using the tingling feeling that you get when you do that to describe a tangible influence of Qi.

It is a pleasure to meet you!

Edit: My original post did not include everything I wrote.

very good insight on untainted energy. and yes Sanfung, i mean the 2nd one. by just imagining holding a globe of light. I thought i would describe my daily routine here, if anyone wants to try it out.

0) Qi gathering, by pointing palms towards the sun and imagining drawing the energy in, by placing palms on a tree and drawing energy that way, or on the ground. (the gathering stage is really weird because i started noticing my palms pulsing during the process)

1) cycle breaths: use both hands to make smooth circles by rotating from your waste, clock wise and counter clockwise while you breath in slowly. later i added breathing in and motioning with your hands for energy to belly then you spread it over body, first down to toes and then up to head shoulders and beyond

2) stance 1; bending knees a bit and holding palms stretched out to both sides, imagining being encircled by a ball of light. you can then later try holding the structure and jump up and down or rotate.

3) stance 2; its like you are hugging someone, but instead of a person in your arms you are hugging a big ball of light while standing, knees bent a little. you can then later do squats while holding the position.

i finish up with tapping along the meridians and usually after these exercises my palms feel full of qi and blood. i've also been trying to do more finger pushups to strengthen my hands. I think working out has a lot to do with increasing your Qi capacity.. you can't be lazy and expect to have lots of qi :D

cool stuff 8) part of what one should ask himself is what's the goal!

the first one 0 is good, now try doing that with a fire, or the heat from the vents in the car!

and once that starts doing things, take a similar idea with the yongquan points in the feet and do a similar thing with the earth, good kidney cultivation.

second..one, try doing a smaller internal loop in the median sagittal plane between lower dantien and diaphragm...

2) investigate the differences in palm direction

3) line up laogung with centerline!

meridian tapping is awesome!

8)

a lot of the terms you use i do not understand. i know acupuncture points by numbers. and some of the other terms i noticed require techniques that i do not know about. like lining up laogong with centreline.

btw i want to become a moxa specialist. it feels like that is the kind of mastery to go for. i heard moxaing ren 12 and st 36 everyday can make you live for a very long time :D

that's a good basic routine. I've heard the hugging someone posture described as "barrel feeling" posture - of course, "peng" from tai chi chuan and there's one like it in 8 pieces brocade - and just about every other qi gong set :D

you may want to check out the ymaa white crane qi gong dvd if you haven't already. the production looks a little dated now, certainly when compared to the new yang style for beginners, but it has choice music and the exercises are great. it doesn't talk so much about specific acu-points but is a nice introduction to healthy organ function by loosening the whole body through waist movement connection and leading qi with specific moving postures. that video really opened my eyes to qi gong probably more than any other single source.
